Instead of default names like “Table1” or “Table2,” named tables like “Sales_Q1” or “Inventory_2024” offer clarity and context, making data more understandable for all users.

How to Name Tables in Excel
- Start by opening the spreadsheet that contains the table to update.
- Select the table by clicking anywhere within the table.
- Go to the Table Design tab in the top ribbon to access formatting and labeling options.
- Locate the Properties Section on the far left of the top ribbon
- Rename the Table with a unique, descriptive name. Use something meaningful like
Marketing_LeadsorAnnual_Report_2025. - Repeat the process for all tables in the worksheet.
