Exploring AI Assistant’s Features

Summarizing: Upon selecting the AI Assistant button, the document undergoes processing, providing us with a simple overview. It tells us that this document provides guidelines and examples for creating alternate text descriptions for images, ensuring accessibility across various contexts. All true.

Query: One of the remarkable aspects of the assistant is its ability to engage in conversation with the document. By asking it to provide a list of the five most important points, we receive valuable insights. For instance, it emphasizes the importance of context when providing alternate texts for images, along with marking decorative images to indicate their lack of meaningful information.

Testing AI Assistant

We tested the AI assistant with a larger anthropology file, which was thought to be inaccessible and untagged. Despite our assumptions, the assistant surprises us by providing an overview of the document’s content. It highlighted its focus on physical anthropology and its role in explaining human evolution.

The assistant offered proposed questions and the option to request a list of headings, showcasing its potential to assist users in navigating through complex documents. While it may not pick up all headings accurately, particularly in untagged PDFs, it still provides valuable assistance.

The Power of AI Assistant

As we reflect on the capabilities of Adobe Acrobat’s AI assistant, it’s evident that this technology holds immense promise for the future of accessibility. Imagine a future where students can engage in full conversations with documents, seamlessly accessing information tailored to their needs.

With each advancement in AI technology, the accessibility landscape evolves, offering new possibilities for inclusivity and equal access to information. While the assistant may not be perfect, it represents a significant step forward in bridging the gap between users and accessible content.
