Understanding the Error
Have you ever encountered this error message while using the auto tagger in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC? It’s a frustrating roadblock. Don’t worry, we’ll navigate through it together.
Identifying the Issue
Upon testing your document, you may find that link object references are not properly nested within a parent link tag. This oversight can lead to WCAG compliance failures, highlighting the importance of addressing it promptly.
Fixing the Link Annotation Not Nested Error
Fortunately, resolving this issue is straightforward:
- Creating a Link Tag: Right-click within the tags panel and select “New Tag.” Type “link” with a capital L and lowercase i n k.
- Nesting Link Object References: Move the link object reference inside the newly created link tag. Optionally, you can also include the associated text within the link tag.

Verification and Testing
After making the necessary adjustments, save your file and rerun it through the PAC 2024 tool. You should observe a reduction in the number of errors associated with this category, indicating successful remediation.
