How to solve the PAC 2024 error: Figure element on a single page has no bounding box | Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
In today’s tutorial, we’re tackling a specific error encountered during PDF UA compliance testing: the absence of a bounding box for single-page figures. We’re going to walk through how to solve this error in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Video Guide
When encountering the PAC 2024 error of a single-page figure lacking a bounding box, it’s essential to navigate through a series of steps to rectify the issue. Let’s explore a practical solution together.
Identifying and Addressing the Issue
Upon encountering the error, the first step is to locate the problematic figure within the document. Access the tags panel to pinpoint the specific element causing the compliance error.
Attempting Fixes
Addressing this error can be somewhat challenging, but there are several approaches to try.

- Initially, attempt a straightforward solution by deleting the tag associated with the figure. Once deleted, proceed to the reading order tool.
- In some cases, simply re-tagging the object as a figure using the reading order tool may not suffice. Should this method prove unsuccessful, dive deeper into the content panel for alternative solutions.
- To address the absence of a bounding box, create an artifact from the problematic figure within the content panel. This action removes it from the main document flow, potentially resolving the compliance error.
- After transforming the figure into an artifact, re-tag it using the fixed reading order tool, designating it as a figure once again. Ensure to include descriptive alt text for accessibility purposes.

Verification and Retesting
Once all modifications have been made, save the document and retest it using the Pac tool or any other PDF UA compliance testing tool. Verify that the error concerning the bounding box for single-page figures has been successfully resolved.
By following these steps, you can effectively address the error of a single-page figure lacking a bounding box, ensuring PDF UA compliance. If you found this tutorial helpful, don’t forget to like and subscribe to our channel for more accessibility insights.
