How to Update Tooltips for Accessibility in Adobe LiveCycle Designer (AEM)
In today’s post, we’re learning how to update tooltips for individual form fields, using Adobe LiveCycle Designer. The Adobe LiveCycle Designer makes it easy to create forms that closely mirror the paper forms they will replace. Its unified design environment lets authors easily lay out templates, incorporate business logic, and preview forms in real-time.

In our document, we have a table with checkboxes labeled yes, no, or not available, alongside content on the left-hand side. We aim to ensure these form fields are accessible by updating their tooltips to reflect the content provided.

The Adobe LiveCycle Designer
Firstly, identify the content you wish to include in the tooltips. In this example, we’re updating tooltips to match the content from the left-hand side of the document. For instance, if the content states “Reading order of slides has been verified via the reading order pane,” we’ll copy this text.
Now, navigate to the form field you wish to update. With the Accessibility tab open, locate the Tooltip option. Here, you’ll find existing text that you can overwrite. Simply paste the copied text to ensure the tooltip accurately reflects the content. For example, “Reading order of slides has been verified via the reading order panel.”

Additionally, if necessary, provide further context or instructions in the Notes tab. Paste any relevant information here to assist users in navigating the form fields.
Repeat this process for each form field, ensuring consistency and accuracy throughout the document. While it may seem repetitive, each tooltip plays a crucial role in enhancing accessibility for all users.
As we continue updating tooltips, it’s essential to maintain focus and precision. Attention to detail ensures that individuals utilizing assistive technologies can access the information effectively.
And there you have it—a concise yet vital tutorial on adding appropriate tooltips for form field accessibility within Adobe Lifecycle Designer. By following these steps, you contribute to creating an inclusive digital environment for all users.
