Check if Adobe PDF Printer is Available

First, ensure you’re in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. Press Ctrl+P on your keyboard. If you see the option to choose “Adobe PDF” as a printer, you’re good to go. This option is primarily used for resizing pages within a PDF document.

Troubleshooting Missing Adobe PDF Printer

If the Adobe PDF option isn’t available, follow these troubleshooting steps:

Option 1: Repair Installation

  1. Click on the menu button in the top left corner.
  2. Scroll down and select “Help.”
  3. Choose “Repair Installation.”

This process will run Adobe Acrobat through a series of steps to ensure it was installed correctly. Sometimes, this can resolve the issue and make the PDF printer visible.

Option 2: Manual Installation

  1. Open your computer’s control panel (you can search for it in the bottom left corner).
  2. Select “View Devices and Printers.”
  3. Click on “Add a printer.”
  4. Choose “The printer I want isn’t listed.”
  5. Select “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings” and click “Next.”
  6. Choose “Use an existing port.”
  7. In the dropdown menu, search for “Adobe PDF printer.” It should appear as “documents*.pdf.”
  8. Click “Next.”
  9. Select “Have disk.”
  10. Navigate to your Adobe Acrobat folder. Typically, it’s in C drive > Program Files > Adobe Acrobat > DC > Acrobat > extras > Adobe PDF.
  11. Choose “Adobe PDF.inf” and click “OK.”
